Board and Batten Installation Instructions

Siparila board and batten siding is a high-quality exterior siding that comes primed on all four sides. Although our primed board and batten siding must be painted with two coats of paint after installation; this includes all bare wood and nail heads in order to retain the integrity of the finish. Furring strips for our board and batten siding can be installed both horizontally or diagonally.

Starting the installation

The siding must be installed over furring strips to ensure airflow and allow for moisture to drain. A ¾-inch (19 mm) open and unobstructed ventilation duct must be left between the siding and the building; please refer to local building codes to verify ventilation duct guidelines and other building requirements.

The siding should not touch the ground or other horizontal surfaces and cannot be closer than 8 inches (203 mm) from the ground.
