The siding must be installed over furring strips to allow for airflow and enable drainage for excess moisture. A ¾-inch (19 mm) unobstructed ventilation duct must be left between the siding and the building; please refer to local building codes to verify ventilation duct guidelines and other building requirements.
During installation, create ventilation space behind the siding by using double furrings. Install the first vertical furring strips directly to the frame of the building, then apply a horizontal furring strips on top of the vertical ones following the guidelines below:
Do not install the furring strips diagonally as this will impede ventilation and prevent water from draining freely.
The siding should not touch the ground or other horizontal surfaces and cannot be closer than 8 inches (203 mm) from the ground.
